Everyone is in love with their InstaPot. I am in love with my Air fryer! It is an amazing kitchen tool. Seriously. You have to try one, if you don’t already own one. It is the PERFECT tool for your kitchen, especially during the hot summer months. It won’t heat up your whole kitchen like the oven does!
Let’s make some homemade chicken strips in the air fryer!

I purchased my Cooks Essentials Air fryer from QVC several months ago, and it quickly became an integral part of my kitchen routine! At first, I used it mostly to cook convenience foods, like frozen chicken, frozen sweet potato fries and things like that. It does an AMAZING job with those items!
Then I learned that it did a great job of reheating some leftovers! Leftover pizza tastes like it was freshly made again, and any leftover meat like steak or chicken comes out crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside – even when reheated!
So, it was time for me to take it a step further and make some homemade chicken strips in the air fryer! I make my chicken strips using Bisquick and they are incredible! There is very little oil used, so the strips are much healthier and come out crisp and tender.
A couple of tips about the air fryer – you cannot pack too much into the basket. The air fryer needs to have space for the air to circulate around the food. That ensures that foods cook evenly and end up with a nice crisp coating. I spray the bottom of my air fryer basket to ensure nothing sticks to it, even though it is a non-stick surface. It also helps to spritz a little oil (I use olive oil in my Pampered Chef kitchen spritzer) on whatever it is I am air frying. It gives the foods a little extra crispness.
My air fryer has preset cooking buttons so it knows precisely what temperature each food type needs to cook. So, for my homemade chicken strips in the air fryer, I just push the chicken button! That sets the temperature to 360 degrees F. It also sets the timer for 20 minutes. For my chicken strips, I change the timer to 15 minutes.
Then I push the start button. Half way through the cook time, I stop the cooking and either shake the basket (to allow the food to move and not stick) or I will flip the food over. Put the basket back in and press start again. In fifteen minutes, the best, most tender and crispy chicken tenders come out of the air fryer!

Homemade Chicken Tenders using Airfryer
Ingredients
- 4 pieces Chicken tenders, thawed
- 1 cup Bisquick
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 Egg
Instructions
-
Combine the dry ingredients in a flat bowl. Combine the milk and the egg in another flat bowl.
Dip each piece of chicken in the milk and egg mixture, and then into the dry mixture. Repeat by dipping the same chicken in the milk and egg mixture and then again into the dry mixture.
Preheat the airfryer for one minute at 360 degrees F.
Spray the bottom of the airfryer basket with cooking oil, lightly. Place the breaded tenders into the airfryer basket, leaving enough room around each piece for air to flow.
Spray each piece of chicken with olive oil, lightly.
Place the basket with the chicken in the preheated airfryer and cook for 7 minutes. Stop the arfryer and either flip the check over, or shake the basket to ensure the chicken is not sticking. Replace in the airfryer for an additional 7-8 minutes.
Serve immediately.
