Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! Getting dressed up as someone different, eating (or sharing) candy of all kinds, decorating in scary or fun ways with bright colorful characters makes this holiday FUN! I created a couple Scary Halloween Luminaries to add to my decoration collection. One scary luminary features a witch with a cauldron and the other scary one features a dead tree in a graveyard. The luminary is such an easy and fun project to help decorate for this holiday. And this project only takes four items:
– card stock
– velum
– battery operated tealight
– adhesive
That is all!
The ‘shadow’ for the scary Halloween luminaries are cricut templates that use several different
images, welded together to create a shadow effect perfect for a luminary. Putting velumn behind the shadowy outline creates a subtle light diffusing shield that enhances the light from a battery operated LED tealight. I even selected one that is color changing to give this project maximum appeal! And it looks amazing!
You can access the template for the Witch with a Cauldron outline through Cricut Access here. The Dead Tree in a Graveyard outline can be accessed through Cricut Access here.

Since this project is so easy, it is hard to write instructions! But here is what you do – cut the shadow outline out using your cricut in a size that will work for you. Use a piece of velum that will be big enough to attach to the edges of the shadow outline that was cut on the cricut. Attach the shadow outline securely to the velum. Create a cylinder using the shadow and velum and attach along the short edges securely.
These look really good! What a fun easy decoration for when we can have Halloween parties again. 🙂 Love the idea of color changing tea lights.
